A follow up survey in 2011 found similar results: globally, 9% of contributors were women; in the U.S., it was 15%. There is need for more women to write and edit articles on Wikipedia, and this starts by building their confidence through training and writing competitions. On August 4, 2017, Girl Lead Hub Network organized a free two-day #WhenGirlsWrite Wikimedia Writing Workshop which aims to encourage more Nigerian girls to shape the narrative on girls issues through writing. The two-day workshop, which held at the Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth, and Advancement (YIAGA) office in Gwarimpa, Abu
